Importing transactions from files and images

Import your transaction history from bank statements, exported files, or even a photo of a receipt. Finthy supports a wide range of formats and uses AI to extract transactions from images.

Supported formats

  • CSV — the most common export format from banks

  • PDF — official bank statements, parsed automatically

  • Excel (XLSX/XLS) — spreadsheets with transaction data

  • OFX/QFX — standard financial exchange formats

  • Images (JPG, PNG, HEIC) — photos of receipts or statements, processed with AI vision

Maximum file size: 10 MB per upload.

How to import

  1. Open the account you want to import to.

  2. Click Import Transactions.

  3. Drag and drop your file or photo, or click to browse.

  4. For files, map the columns to Finthy’s fields if needed.

  5. Review the extracted transactions and confirm the import.

Tips for image uploads

  • Make sure the photo is well-lit and in focus.

  • Capture the full receipt or statement page — partial crops can miss totals or dates.

  • If the AI misreads a value, edit the transaction after import.

Image extraction may count toward your plan’s monthly AI usage. See Plan differences for limits.
