Understanding transaction categories
Finthy automatically categorizes your transactions to help you understand where your money goes. Categories are essential for budgeting and spending analysis.
Default categories include
Food & Dining - Restaurants, groceries, coffee shops
Transportation - Gas, public transit, rideshare, parking
Shopping - Retail, online purchases, clothing
Bills & Utilities - Electricity, water, internet, phone
Entertainment - Movies, streaming, games, events
Health & Medical - Pharmacy, doctors, gym memberships
Changing categories
Click on any transaction to change its category. Finthy learns from your changes and will apply them to similar future transactions.
Viewing a category's transactions
In the Cashflow report, the Money In and Money Out summaries break your activity down by category. Click any category there to filter the transaction list to just that category, and click it again to clear the filter. This makes it easy to jump from a category total straight to the transactions behind it.
