Budget alerts and notifications
Finthy raises an alert whenever a budget crosses a threshold you care about, a chance to react before the period ends. Alerts reach you in-app and by email. Mobile push notifications are on our roadmap, arriving with the native Finthy mobile app.
Alert types
Threshold warning: spending crossed an early threshold you set (e.g. 50% of the budget).
Approaching limit: you're close to the budget cap (usually 80 to 90%).
Budget exceeded: spending went past 100% of the budget.
Period ending: the budget period is about to roll over.
Rollover alert: for budgets that carry leftover amounts into the next period.
Each alert shows the human-readable type label, the amount spent, the budget limit, the percentage used, and the budget's currency, so an alert from a USD budget always reads in USD, even if your default currency is different.
The alerts panel
Open the Budgets page.
Click the Alerts tab (or open a specific budget to see its alerts).
Filter by All or Unread to focus on what's new.
Click an alert to jump to the underlying budget.
Where alerts are delivered
In-app: always on, for every user. Alerts appear in the alerts panel inside the Budgets page, and in-app notifications are clickable, taking you straight to the related budget.
Mobile push (on our roadmap): push notifications will arrive with the native Finthy mobile app.
Email: get alert emails so you can react even when you are not in the app.
Use Notification preferences to choose which channels you receive.
Customizing thresholds
Each budget has its own threshold settings. Open the budget, then Edit, then set the percentage at which you want Finthy to notify you. Paid plans support multiple thresholds per budget. You can also update many budgets at once: select budgets on the Budgets page and use bulk edit to turn alerts on or off and set the threshold across all of them.
